Audio for this story from Performance Today is not available.

Daniel Matsukawa is an orchestral bassoonist — and a former punk rocker. Fred Child joins Matsukawa backstage at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, where Matsukawa makes his confession and demonstrates what punk bassoon might sound like. Then, Matsukawa joins his friends in the Philadelphia Orchestra to play the Bassoon Concerto by Carl Maria von Weber. Peter Oundjian conducts.
