Dancing with Chopin

Audio for this story from Performance Today is not available.

Frederic Chopin took the traditional, off-kilter Polish dance called the Mazurka and made it his own. He wrote more than four dozen Mazurkas for solo piano, polishing up the rough edges and infusing his music with colors and moods. Warsaw native Piotr Anderszewski plays Chopin's Mazurka in A Minor, opus 59, no. 1, in concert at the Schwetzingen Festival in Germany.
