M. Night Shymalan's new film, Lady in the Water, stars Paul Giamatti as a man who rescues a mysterious woman, played by Bryce Dallas Howard.

Shyamalan is the writer-director of 1999 blockbuster The Sixth Sense. He has earned mixed reviews from critics, but made big money at the box-office, with his subsequent films: Unbreakable, Signs and The Village.

Shyamalan says that his new fantasy is his most heartfelt work; he even left his longtime studio, Disney, when executives there didn’t share his enthusiasm for the project. Our film critic has this review.
