Robert Schumann worked in both the literary and musical worlds; he found a lot of opportunity for crossover between the two. After reading Lord Byron's poetic drama "Manfred," Schumann was inspired to compose. The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Heinz Holliger in Schumann's "Manfred" Overture.
