Telemann's Tidewaters

Audio for this story from Performance Today is not available.

The German port city of Hamburg was Georg Philipp Telemann's adopted hometown, so he knew about the importance of its sea-faring lifestyle. In 1723 he wrote a special suite called "Hamburg Ebb and Flow," depicting the moods and colors of the nearby North Sea. The group Tempesta di Mare performs Telemann's Suite, in concert at St. Mark's Church in Philadelphia.
