Prokofiev for Film

Audio for this story from Performance Today is not available.

Prokofiev's style was edgy and lyrical, a combination that made for very effective film music. The first film score he wrote was for a movie called "Lieutenant Kije." The Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Andre Previn, plays from the concert version of that score. It's the second movement from Prokofiev's "Lieutenant Kije Suite," called "Song."
