When a job came between Brandon McFarland and Sunday church services, he found new ways to connect with God.

Recently, Youth Radio's Brandon McFarland decided to take his place in the choir stand at the church he grew up attending in Oakland, Calif. Until about a year ago, church had taken a back seat to work.

McFarland says his absence from Sunday services helped him come to a better understanding of his spirituality. He found that he prayed more and read the Bible.
