Ravel

Ravel had some trouble with competitions. He never won the Prix de Rome, though that resulted in a lot of publicity for him. And then there were more minor ones — but those didn't work out, either. We'll hear the intended submission for a $20 prize: Ravel's Sonatine, by pianist Fazil Say.
