Arrrrr! It's Talk Like a Pirate Day!
Every year, on the 19th of September, all true pirate lovers embrace each other with a hearty, Arrrrr! It is the official Talk Like a Pirate Day. Today, especially if you work in customer relations, feel free to break out of your humdrum life and answer the phone with "Arrrrr," "Aye," or "Avast." Not only because pirates are cool, but because the more pirates there are, the less global warming there will be. Observe this graph, please:
Pirate Talk Day: Piratese
I heard from my landlubber niece that the Columbus, Ohio airport was announcing flights in Piratese. Just think "Argggh avast ye snivelin swabs, yer ship is leavin port from dock nine, leave all yer grog behind at security."
Pirate Day Talk: No Good Link
Ahoy, maties! Pirates these days are still up to no good, according to this.
Pirate Day Talk: White Collar Pirates
Tumble up, larboard watch! You scurvy knaves best hearken to old Robert (the dread pirate, that is). He's hit the proverbial head on ye old nail. Add college administrators, especially presidents, to the list and we've got a crew fit to bring about the destruction of the middle and lower classes once and for all.
Pirate Day Talk: Modern Day Pirates
Do Enron, Adelphia, HP, and Worldcom executives count as modern pirates? How about militant, gun-toting strongman types of all stripes... Al Qaeda, FARC, Ahmadinejad, Chavez, Cheney? and what about approximately 9 million full time spammers in Nigeria and Russia? Don't they count?
I think we have lots of pirates, maybe more than ever. I'm skeptical of this graph. It must be the pirates who are heating up the planet.
Pirate Day Talk: Shiver Me Timbers
Arrr!
Shiver me timbers, MATIES! A true wonderful idea ye have there. So raise the Jolly Roger and scuttle any wharf rat that sees foolery in our debauch as we raise a glass of grog singing Yo Ho Ho and a Botle of Rum.
Pirate Talk Day: Pirate Movie Rated Arrrrr
Have you heard about the next pirate movie?
It is rated arrrr!
Pirate Talk Day: Does Robert Talk Pirate
I know Robert does a great Walter Cronkie impersonation but does he talk pirate?
All Things Considered will have a piece this afternoon on a new album of pop stars singing pirate songs, entitled Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys. (Apparently, the brainchild of Johnny Depp and Gore Verbinski.)
Alas, there is little other coverage on me beloved network today. It just shows the evil infiltration of the bloody ninjas into polite society. But if you need a little help on your pirate expressions there is an instructional video that can help you out.
Arrrrr!
