October 27, 2006Being the son of a musical legend doesn't automatically qualify Sean Lennon to be a great musician, so it's a pleasant surprise to hear his beautiful, simple melodies and evocative voice. Lennon performed a solo set from WXPN and World Cafe Live in Philadelphia on Oct. 27.
Before embarking on a solo career, Lennon pursued collaborations with musicians such as his mother (Yoko Ono), Lenny Kravitz and Cibo Matto. He then met up with Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch, who was so impressed that he released Lennon's first album, Into the Sun, on his label. While Lennon also pursues art and film, he continues to develop as a musician, releasing Friendly Fire this month.
