Gabriela Montero: Improvising Down a Country Road
Gabriela Montero is inclined toward improvisation.
Gabriela Montero and a Performance Today listener team up to give John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" a new twist. Robert Hirsh, from Covalis, Oregon chose to sing this song because when his daughter was a youngster, she comically mixed up the words, thinking the song was called "Take Me Home, Comfy Robes." In Montero's improvised version, she makes it sound as if she were fitting 'comfy robes' for both Mozart and Oscar Peterson.
