Anthem Singers Test 'the Land of the Free'

October 27, 2006 - In 1968, the last time the Tigers played the Cardinals in Game 5 of the World Series, singer Jose Feliciano performed a personalized version of the "Star Spangled Banner."
Although it sounds restrained and even traditional by today's standards, his version was widely criticized for being disrespectful.
Since that game, singers have taken more artistic liberties with the anthem. Some versions have succeeded; others have failed miserably.
