Week in Politics: Iraq, the Economy and Election Day

text sizeAAA
November 3, 2006

Robert Siegel talks politics with E.J. Dionne, columnist for The Washington Post, and David Brooks, columnist for The New York Times.

Brooks predicts a 27-seat pickup for Democrats in the House, and a split in the Senate. And while refusing to make an exact prediction, Dionne says Democrats may pick up "at least four" seats in the Senate, while gaining 20-25 House spots.

Both commentators agree that voters' citing of "incompetence" in handling Iraq is a central issue to the midterm elections, while economic issues are also a concern.
