Republicans Assess Damage, Review Strategies

text sizeAAA
November 9, 2006

Republicans across the country are assessing their losses in this week's elections, and searching for lessons for the future. In New Hampshire, both Republican congressmen were defeated by their Democratic opponents.

Melissa Block hears from Andrew Cline, editorial page editor of the conservative Union-Leader newspaper. Cline says New Hampshire's Republican Party has lost its way, and voters opted to throw out politicians simply because they were Republican.

Michele Norris talks with Albert Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, about conservative Christians. Mohler says these voters are disillusioned with the GOP because the party hasn't shown progress on social issues such as banning gay marriage and abortion.
