As a fragile cease-fire appears to be holding in Gaza, Israeli troops in the West Bank shot and killed at least one member of a militant Palestinian group. Palestinian officials say a woman was also killed.

Thousands of Palestinian police took up positions in northern Gaza to try to preserve the cease-fire, which has sparked a flurry of diplomatic activity.
