Felipe Calderon took power in an unusual midnight ceremony with outgoing President Vicente Fox. Calderon called on Mexicans to move beyond the disputed presidential election.

Opposition lawmakers, however, did not heed the call. They blocked the doors later on Friday to the congressional chamber where Calderon's inauguration eventually took place, exchanging punches with their conservative colleagues ahead of the event.
