Music above, behind, from side to side, all around. That's the auditory effect of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice. It's what composer Giovanni Gabrieli was trying to achieve in the music he wrote for that space, including these Canzone: the Canzona per Sonare No. 1 and the Canzona Noni Toni for 12 players. The Chicago Chamber Musicians are in concert at the Merit School of Music in Chicago.
