In the House: Pelosi Makes History

The usual pomp and circumstance that comes when a new Congress is sworn in was even more pronounced today, as Nancy Pelosi became the first woman Speaker of the House.

Many members of the 110th Congress brought their children to their first day of work. For many members, the main business aspect of the first day seemed to be picking up their lapel pins and voting cards, and getting their staff situated.
