An NFL Mark: Two Black Coaches in Super Bowl

text sizeAAA
January 22, 2007

Super Bowl XLI will make history. When the game is played on Feb. 4 in Miami, Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith and Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy will play for one of professional sports' most prized championships. The two coaches are great friends — and both coaches are black.

This will be the first time two African-American head coaches have led their teams to the Super Bowl.

Melissa Block talks with Cyrus Mehri, who represents the Fritz Pollard Alliance, a group of minority coaches, front office, and scouting personnel in the NFL.
