Eric Nuzum
Director of Programming and Acquisitions
As NPR's Director of Programming and Acquisitions, Nuzum works with NPR's acquired programs, including Car Talk, Fresh Air, and The Thistle & Shamrock, which are distributed but not produced by NPR. Nuzum also contributes to NPR programming initiatives, including the development of new programming, program evaluation, and talent development. During his career in public radio he has been a noted producer, fundraiser, researcher, and programmer. As a producer, he has created features for All Things Considered, Marketplace, and Transom.org.
Nuzum was the recipient of the 2002 RTNDA National Edward R Murrow Award for Newswriting and several other national, state, and local awards for radio production and writing.
Outside of public radio, he has written, published, and lectured extensively on popular culture, music, and free expression issues. His latest book, The Dead Travel Fast: Stalking Vampires from Nosferatu to Count Chocula will be published by Thomas Dunne Books (St. Martin's Press) in September 2007.
