March 15, 2007Fujiya & Miyagi is not a duo. It's not Japanese. In fact, no one in the band is even named Fujiya or Miyagi. The Brighton trio wisely compiled its series of well-received singles onto Transparent Things, a creative and incessantly danceable album. Internalizing the krautrock grooves of Can and Neu!, the real kick comes in the band's breathy electro-funk. Fujiya & Miyagi's music, at its best, comes off like Sly Stone on a healthy dose of Roxy Music's killer art-pop.

Seattle-based KEXP presents a diverse mix of music, live performances and podcasts from indie rock and punk to jazz and old school soul.
