March 14, 2007David Malkinson formed The Early Years in London with friends Roger Mackin and Phil Raines in 2004. After a demo landed in the hands of radio personalities at BBC1 and XM, the trio saw a quick rise to overseas popularity. The Early Years draws on the droning space-rock of bands like Spiritualized and Can, as well as the ecstasy of The Velvet Underground's danceable moments. Still, the band's swirling, psychedelic sound remains tuneful at all times, keeping its flights of fancy accessible.

Seattle-based KEXP presents a diverse mix of music, live performances and podcasts from indie rock and punk to jazz and old school soul.
