March 14, 2007Inspired by My Bloody Valentine, the Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., Pet Shop Boys and Prince, the Danish band Mew crafts expansive space-pop songs with the epic drive of rock. Formed among friends in a seventh-grade class and fully realized some years later, Mew long ago convinced a book-publishing agent to restructure his company to release music. After independently releasing CDs, a major label picked Mew up for worldwide distribution. The band's critically acclaimed 2003 album, Frengers, received both Album and Band of the Year honors at the Danish Music Critics Awards.
Seattle-based KEXP presents a diverse mix of music, live performances and podcasts from indie rock and punk to jazz and old school soul.
