'Baking in America'

Host John Ydstie talks with Gregory Patent, author of the new cookbook Baking in America: Traditional and Contemporary Favorites from the Past 200 Years. In his book, Patent presents adapted versions of the original recipes for classically American delights like apple pie, pumpkin pie and chocolate cake. He adjusted the recipes to account for the evolution of baking ingredients over the past two centuries. The book is published by Houghton Mifflin Co. (6:45)
