STEVEN INSKEEP, host:

Here's an update on the major story we're following. Winners in this week's primaries include McCain, Clinton, Obama, Kucinich and Paul. That list requires some explanation.

John McCain won enough delegates to clinch the Republican nomination. Democrat Hillary Clinton won Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island. She gained on Barack Obama, who won Vermont. And then there's Ron Paul of Texas. He has not won a presidential primary, but has won passionate support. And yesterday, Texas voters re-nominated Paul for his congressional seat. Democrat Dennis Kucinich left the presidential race in January, had to go back to Ohio to defend his seat in Congress. A former admirer raised half a million dollars to challenge him, but Kucinich prevailed in voting yesterday.
