A big political contest has been decided in Cape May, N.J. The issue: What to do about a colony of feral cats that threatened a population of endangered birds? On Tuesday, the City Council agreed to move the feisty felines.

A big political contest between cats and birds has finally been decided. For the past year, cat lovers and bird watchers have been battling it out in Cape May, New Jersey. Protest signs, letter writing campaigns, debates. The issue: What to do about a colony of feral cats that threatened a population of endangered birds? The saga ended yesterday with a vote. The City Council agreed to move the feisty felines.
