Today, we begin a new series on housing.

Recent reports show that nearly a million American households are at risk of foreclosure — that's 71 percent more than a year ago.

Farai Chideya talks with Raphael Bostic — an associate professor at the University of Southern California School of Policy, Planning, and Development — and personal finance expert Lynnette Khalfani-Cox.

She's the author of several books, including Your First Home: The Smart Way To Get It And Keep It.
