Listeners flipping the dial on satellite radio might be surprised by one endorsement from a particularly authoritative voice.

(Soundbite of audio)

Pope BENEDICT XVI: On the occasion of the third anniversary of my election to the (unintelligible) of Peter, I would like to take the opportunity to greet and thank all those who've joined us by radio and other media, especially the listeners of the Catholic Channel on Sirius Satellite Radio.

MONTAGNE: That is, of course, the voice of Pope Benedict in a short greeting he made for the Catholic Channel on Sirius, which carries the weekly broadcast by New York's Cardinal Eagan. The pope taped his address at Saint Peter's Cathedral over the weekend.

And we should note that some NPR programs are also heard on Sirius radio, but with no claim whatsoever to infallibility.
