Malcolm Shabazz was 12 years old when he started a fire that killed his grandmother, Betty Shabazz, the widow of Malcolm X.

Malcolm Shabazz is 23 now, out of prison, and he tells the story of his troubled life to Aliya King. King wrote a three part series on Shabazz for the online magazine NewsOne.

For more, Farai Chideya talks with King and News One editor-in-chief Smokey Fontaine.
