May 13, 2008 - The United States Postal Service releases its commemorative Frank Sinatra stamp Tuesday — one day before the 10th anniversary of the singer's death.

Sinatra's family will mark the release with ceremonies in New York, Las Vegas and in Hoboken, N.J., where the Chairman of the Board was born.

The image chosen for the 42-cent stamp is based on a 1950s photo of the singer and shows Sinatra wearing his trademark fedora — and a big smile.

Sinatra's daughter Nancy says she was thrilled about the choice.

"We knew that the people would want the hat and the big keyboard grin, you know?" she says.

Still, there was just one thing. The original design was done in sepia tones. Nancy Sinatra says she wanted to see her father in color.

"I said, 'wait a minute — where are the blue eyes? Got to have the eyes!'" she says.

The postal service will issue 120 million of the Frank Sinatra stamps, which also feature the late singer's autograph.
