March 15, 2007After a bitter divorce and even a bout of homelessness, Minneapolis-based rapper Brother Ali returns with The Undisputed Truth. Ali's tricky wordplay and raw emotion drew critics and fans to his soul- and funk-based hip-hop songs, but on his new disc, he introduces dub and roots reggae into the mix. That infusion is an inspired choice by producer Ant (of Atmosphere fame), and opens up new possibilities for Brother Ali's distinctive MC skills, which remain sharp and powerful.
Based in Minneapolis/St. Paul, The Current features new rock, electronic, hip-hop, and indie music alongside legendary artists.
