STEVE INSKEEP, host:
This business story says it all. It's a bid for Budweiser.
(Soundbite of music)
INSKEEP: Our director just added, this bid's for you.
A Belgian-based brewer called InBev has launched an unsolicited bid to buy Anheuser-Busch for about $46 billion. Anheuser-Busch makes Budweiser and Michelob. It's the world's third-largest brewer in terms of volume, and now it has this buy offer from the world's second largest brewer. If this were to become a reality, it rates as the possibility that your Bud would come from the same company that makes Stella Artois - Budweiser. One hitch is that Anheuser-Busch's CEO August A. Busch IV reportedly does not want to sell the company, and he may try to fight the takeover bid.
