Every year at about this time, the Pew Global Attitudes Project releases a report, and most years it's not good news for the United States. The poll usually finds that only a tiny fraction of people in many countries have a positive view of the U.S.

But you can't believe everything that foreigners tell pollsters, argues Fouad Ajami. In an op-ed in Monday's Wall Street Journal, he says that while "American liberalism is heavily invested in this narrative" of anti-Americanism, it's mostly just hype.
