California Hands-Free Law Doesn't Ban Texting
A Facebook group called "I Text Message People While Driving and I haven't Crashed Yet" has 800 members. RENEE MONTAGNE, host:
Good morning, I'm Renee Montagne.
A Facebook group is called I Text Message People While Driving and I haven't Crashed Yet. It has 800 members, and maybe even more will join after a new law goes into effect today in California. It bans driving and talking without a headset, but the no-hands law does not ban texting. Now the stereotypical California driver may change from stuck in traffic and gabbing on the phone, to driving and updating their Facebook.
It's MORNING EDITION.
