Jazz-guitar virtuoso Stanley Jordan recently released his first studio recording in more than a decade. In an interview and performance with KPLU's music director, Nick Francis, Jordan talks about his musical and personal evolution over the past 10 years, as well as his ongoing study of the role music plays in the healing process. He also discusses and demonstrates his unique guitar technique and performs his arrangements of three beautiful songs: "Insensatez," "My One and Only Love," and "El Condor Pasa."

More About Stanley Jordan

Stanley Jordan impressed jazz audiences in the 1980s when he introduced his expert two-hand tapping technique. While tapping wasn't a new way to play the guitar, Jordan's skill allowed him to play two independent parts simultaneously. His proficiency allowed him to play with Benny Carter and Dizzy Gillespie, and got him signed to the legendary Blue Note label. His latest album is titled State of Nature.
