Still in his 20s, Nashville pop singer Andy Davis is an engaging performer who utilizes anyone willing to sing or clap along. In this performance, Davis plays songs from his proper debut album (Let the Woman), accompanies himself on piano, showcases his iPhone on drum programming and converts the Mountain Stage audience into his own backing band.

Andy Davis moved to Nashville in 1999 and caught the songwriting bug soon after. Fellow singer-songwriter Dave Barnes asked Davis to join him on tour, prompting Davis to compile rough mixes of his songs. He titled the collection Thinks of Her and burned his own CDs, fashioning the packaging himself.

The record soon garnered the attention of a Nashville A&R group, which reissued a remixed and professionally packaged version of Think of Her, which eventually sold 4,000 copies. Let the Woman highlights his smooth tenor and penchant for hooks.

This segment originally ran on Jul. 29, 2008.
