Chicago Suburbs Repeal Gun Bans
Encouraged by a recent Supreme Court ruling, the National Rifle Association has filed lawsuits challenging handgun bans in Chicago and several surrounding suburbs.
One suburb, Wilmette, dropped its ban. Another, Morton Grove, is following suit though it was among the first in the country to adopt a ban in 1981. A third city, Evanston, is also set to consider amending its ban.
Chicago, meanwhile, still plans to go to court to defend its ban on the basis that the Second Amendment does not constrain cities and states.
