Like Amos Lee, for whom she's opened, Priscilla Ahn is a singer-songwriter signed to the traditionally jazz-oriented Blue Note label. Brian Blauser hide caption

Priscilla Ahn left her Pennsylvania home for Los Angeles to pursue her songwriting dreams. Over time, she slowly built a core group of friends and musicians, all the while perfecting her dreamy, imaginative roots-pop.

In Pennsylvania, she was introduced to Amos Lee, with whom she would one day share a tour, record label and producer. It was Lee's producer, Barrie Maguire, who encouraged her to move to California.

Ahn can be heard singing backup on several recordings by fellow songwriter Joshua Radin, whom she met on the L.A. open-mic circuit. Word spread far enough that she won an audition with Blue Note Records, which released her full-length studio debut, A Good Day, in June.

This segment originally ran on Jul. 31, 2008.
