Honoring Gospel Music's Heritage All Month Long
One of the hallmarks of our modern life is that months get honorary names. Plenty of them have to do with music.
And now, this September, America celebrates its first "Gospel Music Heritage Month."
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) co-sponsored the "Gospel Music Heritage Month" bill. She had help from Gospel Music Channel founder, Charles Humbard.
The two speak with Farai Chideya about the effort and gospel's undeniable influence on modern music.
