Luke Temple grew up in Manchester, Mass., and attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He became disenchanted with the visual-arts scene upon moving to New York, though his background remains apparent upon hearing the vivid imagery and colorful texture of his compositions. His high and passionate voice recalls a bit of Jeff Buckley and Sufjan Stevens, if they were singing indie-pop nursery rhymes.

Temple's latest CD, 2007's Snowbeast, was recorded on an old eight-track machine in his Brooklyn apartment. He performs two songs here with the Mountain Stage band, who he calls "quick learners"; the group had rehearsed the songs prior to the show, but had just met Temple that afternoon.
