Lehman Brothers' Employees Turn to eBay

And despite the Barclays deal, employees at Lehman Brothers have been trying to secure their financial futures, at least a bit, on eBay. Our last word in business is what will you give me for this pin? Lehman employees have begun to auction off company memorabilia, like T-shirts, mugs, and mouse pads with the corporate logo. "Own a piece of history," reads one listing for a golf club with the Lehman logo. The starting bid is 350 dollars, not bad. A Lehman mug is going for 79 dollars. And both of these offers are quite a bit more than the cost of a single Lehman share.

Folks at the brokerage Merrill Lynch are doing the same, but it appears to be that being absorbed in another bank doesn't seem to have the same cache as going flat-out bankrupt. Lehman's goods are attracting much higher prices. And that's the business news on Morning Edition from NPR News. It's sad, though. Too bad. But I guess, you know - got to admire them for their - for the effort.
