The Emmy Awards were broadcast last night on ABC, honoring the best in television for the 2007-08 TV season. It was a season hampered by a writers' strike — and, as the statuettes were handed out, an awards show dominated by cable.

Tonight, broadcast TV tries to get back on track, and attract attention and viewers by launching a new fall season: The evening's lineup includes the much-anticipated return of NBC's Heroes and the premiere of CBS's sitcom Worst Week.
