Song Pick: 'This Is Why I'm Hot'

This week's News and Notes staff song pick is "This Is Why I'm Hot," by New York City rapper M.I.M.S. Village Voice music editor Rob Harvilla breaks the song down, line by line, and answers the title question.

Described as "a graphical dissertation on the number one song in America," Rob Harvilla's Village Voice article is a tongue-in-cheek deconstruction of the song. Using Venn diagrams and forma logic exercises to parse lyrics such as "I'm hot 'cause I'm fly/You ain't 'cause you not," Harvilla dubs M.I.M.S.' track "brutal and unassailable in its simplicity," if not necessarily "built for endurance."
