After Barack Obama announced his pursuit of the presidency, some focused squarely on his race; others tried to avoid the topic entirely.

Although the nation's troubled economy is at the center of the political debate, author and commentator Tim Wise says Obama's race is still a major factor this election year.

Wise is an anti-racism activist whose recent essay, "This Is Your Nation on White Privilege," sparked much conversation.

His book is called Speaking Treason Fluently: Anti-Racist Reflections from an Angry White Male.
