March 3, 2009 - A band showcasing the work of seasoned Nashville veterans Chris Stapleton (guitar/vocals), Tammy Rodgers (fiddle/vocals), Richard Bailey (banjo), Mike Henderson (mandolin/vocals) and Mike Flemming (bass/vocals), The SteelDrivers enjoyed widespread acclaim upon the release of a self-titled debut at the start of the year. The group performs traditional bluegrass with three- and four-part harmonies over hard-driving fiddle, mandolin, banjo, stand-up bass and flat-picked guitar.
The group is currently nominated for several International Bluegrass Music Association awards, including a Song of the Year nomination for "Drinkin' Dark Whiskey," included here during a performance in Charleston, W.Va. The band is also in the running for Album of the Year and Best Emerging Artist honors.
Kentucky-based vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Chris Stapleton has written songs for a who's-who of country-music superstars, including his first No. 1 hit, Josh Turner's "Your Man."
