A founding member and bassist for the legendary jam band Phish, Mike Gordon has been pursuing his own musical muse since the group went on hiatus in 2004. Gordon has recorded several side projects in the meantime, including two records with finger-style guitarist Leo Kottke.

Although a Phish reunion is in the works — three shows are scheduled for March 2009 in Hampton, Va. — Gordon has been out promoting his latest solo CD, The Green Sparrow. With Gordon playing bass, Scott Murawski on guitar, Tom Cleary on keyboards and piano, Todd Isler on drums and Craig Myers on percussion, the band crosses the boundaries separating pop, rock and jazz, in the process creating a swirling melting pot of sound.

This segment originally ran Oct. 8, 2008.
