'Weird Al' Can't Wait To Play 'Whatever You Like'

"Weird Al" Yankovic 300
Mark Selinger

"Weird Al" Yankovic has been lampooning pop songs for nearly 30 years.

October 13, 2008 - "Weird Al" Yankovic has outlasted many of the artists he's lampooned in a career spanning nearly 30 years. But until now, he's never released a song parody while the original was still atop the Billboard pop chart.

Yankovic took two weeks to write, record and release "Whatever You Like," a parody of the T.I. song of the same name. The track, released digitally through iTunes, conflates the original's come-ons with the low financial expectations of the day.

Yankovic recently told Billboard that staying topical is one of the hardest parts of the job.

"I don't have to wait around [to release an album] while my songs get old and dated," he says. "I can get them out on the Internet almost immediately."
