Obama Raises Stunning $150 Million In September

text sizeAAA
October 19, 2008

Barack Obama's campaign says it raised more than $150 million in September. That one-month total swamps the $84 million that's available to John McCain for the entire fall campaign.

It's been clear that Obama's campaign is flush with cash. He's burying McCain in TV ads and running a ground campaign in states that Democrats haven't contested in years.

"We have in each of these battleground states a very aggressive campaign plan," said campaign manager David Plouffe in a video e-mailed to supporters. "And we can't afford to make any cuts."

Plouffe also said that the campaign needs the money to fight back against negative ads from McCain, calling the ads "slime."

Obama's official totals for September are due at the Federal Election Commission on Monday.
