Nachos Celebrate 65 Years As A Tasty Snack
According to legend, it's been 65 years since the first nachos were served. Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya is credited with creating the snack food at a restaurant in Piedras Negras, Mexico, just across the border from Texas along the Rio Grande. As the story goes, some Americans stopped in the restaurant just when the chef had stepped out. Maitre d' Nacho Anaya threw together some chips and cheese, stuck them under the broiler and added a jalapeno — and nachos were served.
