Chicagoans Celebrate City's Bid for 2016 Olympics
Thousands of Chicago residents are celebrating their city's choice as the American nominee to host the 2016 Summer Olympics. The U.S. Olympic Committee on Saturday chose Chicago over Los Angeles. The city's next task is to beat the likes of Madrid, Prague, Rome, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo.
The next lobbying phase began today, at a downtown rally and celebration. There, politicians, business and community leaders and local residents watched as Chicago Olympic officials debuted a video they'll use to woo the Olympic committee.
Next week, Chicago will begin making its case to the International Organizing Committee in Beijing. The estimated price tag of bringing the Games to Chicago is $5 billion.
